Coke Billboard

I pass by this billboard on my way to work every day. It’s been up for a few weeks now, and I noticed something felt a little strange about it. Upon further inspection, I discovered what the problem was.

Coke Billboard

What's Wrong With This Picture?

Trace the amount of coke coming from the tip of the bottle into the glass and you can’t help but ask the question: how did all that brown liquid fit into the bottle? I mean really, where’s it coming from?

As a graphic designer, I’ve had to comp up plenty of photos in my day. I will usually voice my opinion when something is not realistic. On this ad, the creative director or whoever was “driving” it may have wanted the excess Coke in the bottle, but in my opinion breaking the reality barrier is just plain bad when your trying to do a realistic shot.

Most people won’t pay attention to the discrepancy, but if you’re like me you’ll notice something’s off when you see ads like this. If you’re even more like me you’ll point out your findings on a blog post.

So let me encourage you to be like me and get super analytical about some incredibly menial shit… Can you spot the other errors in this billboard? Share your findings in the comments.

First thing I noticed was the missing “L” in liter. You’d think a company as big as Coke could afford better design than this. It’s pathetic.

It’s the special 2-iter bottle. That means it magically refills itself with extra Coke, which means you can share happiness forever!!!!!!

Can someone really hold a 2-iter…or a 2-liter…bottle of soda and pour it with one hand? I’ll have to test that one out for myself.

    Thanks for the comments guys!

I recently got a chance to hold a 2-liter bottle of Coke like the image in the photo. I could do it, but I also have man hands.

And yes, I must admit that picking apart an ad might be a little uninspiring for a guy whose planning on starting an inspiration blog in the near future, but what the hey, I work in advertising more or less.

Anyway, I got some comments outside of this blog and I’ll just say that “Happiness is always full,” and leave it at that!

    Thanks!

I saw this too and thought the same thing! I can just imagine the VP of marketing that was like “but we can’t show a half-full bottle of Coke! Photoshop it in!”

I Googled for this image hoping someone such as yourself had snapped a photo of it.

    Crazy.
