When Your Tutorial Lands on the Cover of a Well Known Magazine, and You Don’t Know About it
Interesting story…
Last month, I picked up a copy of web designer magazine, issue #149.

Web Designer Magazine 149
It has a giant WordPress logo on the cover. What I didn’t know was that this logo was not the actual WordPress logo but a tutorial my friend and coworker Jon Cazier did on his blog, 3nhanced.com.
I brought the magazine into work and all was exposed. My coworkers couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t believe it. This is a big publication and they just took something off the web and used it on their cover… and didn’t give Jon any credit for it!
After a few emails to the magazine (the publication is based in the UK and we’re in the US), Jon was able to track down the right people. I was relieved to hear that they admitted to their mistake and were going to give him credit in the next few issues such as #152… and more to come.
Jon was lucky and will get some very good press out of this experience. On top of that, he’s always had the Creative Commons license on his blog as a reminder to people to give credit where credit is due.
So, When Your Tutorial Lands on the Cover of a Well Known Magazine, and You Don’t Know About it… Contact the company and see what they’re willing to do about it. You may have some good results.
